Tranny build up questions, t56...
I've got a few questions for you guys, and hopefully you can help me, cause i've gotten no answers anywhere else.
I've got a 396 LT4 setup, that will be going into my 95' Firebird in a couple of weeks, and I need to know what my tranny needs to handle this power? It's a stock t56 with just a short throw shifter. I'll need it to handle roughly 600 ft/lbs, and have been told a couple of things that need to be done.
I want to keep the 6-speed, which is why i'm not going with a different tranny. I've heard I need some billet keys, steel shift forks, maybe new synchrodes. I've also heard that my tranny just needs to handle what my clutch can't. I'll be using a spec stage III with it, and behind it will be an aluminium driveshaft with a 9 inch rear, so I won't have to worry about the stock 10-bolt.
Does anyone know what needs to be done to a stock t56 to make it able to handle this much power?
