Default what about an aftermarket flywheel

Can anyone tell me the benefits and disadvantages of an aftermarket flywheel? And is it worth the money to pay for one?

You can get aftermarket fly wheels is steel and aluminum. The aluminum is light weight and will allow the engine to rev faster, the disadvantage to the aluminum is it doesn't keep its momentem like the heaver steel. The steel is billet meaning its milled out of a solid block of steel. The stock flywheel is cast meaning it is iron that was melted and poured in to a mold and had the surfaces milled. The stock cast is weak compaired to the billet and has the potential to explode under high horse power. If you are replacing your clutch I would put one in. If you just want to do the fly wheel wait untill you do a clutch.

Wait till you do the clutch. I have the spec alum flywheel. It's great. Car revs a little quicker, and it's just nice to have less rotating mass. I like it.
