Does the Fidanza aluminum flywheel need balanced?

Default Does the Fidanza aluminum flywheel need balanced?

i have a 95z28 m6. I got the flywheel off ebay. It is used with a new steel in. does the flywheel need balanced? The flywheel on my car is interal balanced. thanks.

no, but the clutch assembly as a whole needs to be.

Wait! You have an LT1 car. My understanding is that those engines are externally balanced. This means that the flywheel is balanced to the engine.

You need to take that flywheel and clutch in to a machine shop along with the old ones from the car and have them replicate the balance on that flywheel or everything will be out of balance badly. Not only will it annoy you, but it would eventually pound your main bearings to death.

At least that's my understanding.
