Lookin at ZO700AB Aluminum Flywheel Set..Opinions
Pretty much set on a Tex clutch. Now the question is, aluminum or steel flywheels? I will be doing LE2 heads, Cam, 4" Mufflex Yada Yada, hope to get around 420RWHP. Eventually getting 9" when the 10bolt goes. I have heard people say that aluminum is slower to launch but with all the HP I would just spin tires anyways? I have also read other posts where people say it revs faster (= fast times due to being in upper power band more??), and hat they would never go back to steel....I need some more opinions though, I want to buy one soon, so please help me. This will be mainly a street car, and occasional road tracks, and once and a while 1/4" mile runs.
I may be thinking backwards, but would light weight rotating mass (fly & ds) give less of a shock to the rearend?

I dont' think they make the tex for the lt1s or do they?
Also it seems at least in some cars the lightweight flywheels don't seem to hurt launch much at all, they do help the engine rev quicker and seem to be good in turbo cars. I am planning the lightweight tex flywheel in my 99 for planned turbo.
Buddy has fidanza lightweight in his 93 talon and hits 11s in the quarter at 122mph so the light flywheel can't be hurting him all that much.
I have heard heavier is good for drag racing but on the street and rest of the time lighter is probably better.
