clutch is new but seems to slip? do you have to break it in ?

clutch is new but seems to slip? do you have to break it in ? 95 ta replaced clutch about a month ago . 1500, miles. on ot know if that .when i get on it the clutch seems to slip and i can smell clutch real bad. does the clutch have to break in ? had the flywheel cleaned up. the machine shop only took of a couple of thousands. they told me that i would not have to shim it.seems to shift fine. any answers please..
