Default noise coming from transmission area

That is the best that I can describe it. When I step on it in like 4 gear, or any gear high enough that the exhaust sound doesn’t drown it out, there is a gear, almost kind of grinding noise coming from what seems to be my transmission. I don't have my hand on the stick and it seems to do it more when it is hot out (Arizona). I know this isn't much info but if you guys have any clue please help ease my worries.

How many miles are on the car and how hard has it been driven? My 1998 with 115k on the trans is doing the same thing, and it's time for a tranny rebuild.

It has only 41,000 miles and I like to think I haven't been that hard on it I can't speak for the previous owner however.
