Default Possible clutch problems.....need insight

Last October my car started to make this thumping noise from the rear at take off...somewhat normal take offs not anything hard like at lights etc. The car wasnt driven for a long time till recently as my daily driver now to work. We thought it was the rear because it felt like the screw drives in the zexel were disengaging. I bought an auburn as a replacement and today when we were taking the old out we saw the diff wasnt engaging properly as we suspected. Also just recently when you would give it gas from a crusin speed the RPM"s would shoot up and the back end would drag and shutter. We'll the car is still doing the thumping in the rear, the reving to high RPM's an the shuttering. We're figuring it is the clutch causing the revving/dragging/shuttering. It's a SPEC Stage 3 with only about 10k on it...was installed March of 05 and just a daily driver.

Anyone have any idea what would cause the thumping in the back??
