Difference between 01 and 02 shifters?

Difference between 01 and 02 shifters? Alright folks I need to get this cleared up. I've got a buddy who owns a 02 35 ann. SS, and I've got a 01 SS. Well the other day I sat in his car and was feeling his gear pattern. I couldn't get over how tight his gear selection was. I then asked him what shifter he had bought for it and he told me it was stock. I am just wondering if I could get my shifter to feel the way his did. Oh and his shifter wasn't a short throw shifter, it was about the same length of a stock, but just felt really tight.

Naa he bought the car brand new, and he told me it was completely stock. I never knew there was an optional hurst shifter though. Could I get some info on it?
