Default SPEC shims?

what are the shims everyone is talking about? I took out my clutch last night and I dont see any shims or where they would go, I have a LS1. I did a spec satge 2 install on my friends LT1 and the clutch didnt come with any shims. what am i missing?

The shims go behind the slave. Most don't end up needing the shims.

It only applies to LS1 clutch kits. There is a shim that goes behind the slave cylinder to move it farther forward. The LT1 clutch design uses a fork to control the slave whereas the LS1 uses a hydraulic piston.

well ****, I had to take the slave off the tranny cuz the gold fitting wont move to separate. Now the tranny is at a shop so if it did have a shim its gone. Anyone have advice on how to separate the fitting?
