Hard to get into reverse sometimes
Hey guys, I think this is the first time I've been in this forum.
For about a week or so when I try to go into reverse it's hard to move the shifter OVER, but not UP once it's over. I thought it might be the reverse lockout solenoid not disengaging but I can still get the car into gear if I give it a little push.
Also once in a blue moon I'm at a stoplight or something and I can't get into first without forcing it. Instead of forcing it thought I put it in 2nd, which is really easy and then move back into 1st which is back to normal. Could these two problems be related?

Before you put into reverse try putting it into first or any gear and see what happens. Mine won't go into reverse easy unless I put it into first then reverse. My trans is also pretty damn notchy. I don't know maybe its supposed to be like that. It also has 13,000 miles on it.

Is this what you mean?
The shifter has a problem moving all the way to the right,
but when you force it to the right, it slides into Reverse fine.
That is the rev lockout solenoid, which I am having problems with. I was searching to see if anyone knew how to check the solenoid itself VS the voltage to the solenoid to disengage.

Mine does the same thing. Seems if I push it really hard it feels like it will break but once it puts into 1st or Reverse and pop back out I can easily put it into those gears with ease.

Mine does that too...what I do is either put it in another gear and let out the clutch most of the way, or just leave it in neutral and let out the clutch just to the point before the rpms begin to drop. Then I'll push the clutch back in and it will go right into reverse like there wasn't ever a problem. I don't know if this resets the lockout solenoid or what, but hey, it works for me.
