Don't use the Royal Purple. One of our vendors started having issues with it and blocker rings. Go get Castrol Syntorque. It is the same as GM Synchromesh and you can get it from Autozone, Napa, O'Reillys or any other parts store.

Thanks,
Amber

Ls1Joe- Hey Amber, just wondering if you could elaborate more on the blocker ring issue? I've tried to keep up on the whole synthetic is bad for your blocker rings/synchro's debate for the 98-00's, and while some (small amount of) people have directly attributed using synthetic to the demise of their T-56, there's just an overwhelming amount that have not had problems.

Is there anyway to get post more info on the problems they had, like:

Was it just original 98-00 blocker rings that had this issue, or was it the carbon replacements too?

Did the material actually deteriorate or did it glaze up?

Was it Royal Purple's Max ATF or was it their Synchromax?

Thanks either way!

Chuck

Chuck,

Some of what I know about this comes from one of my vendors. We honestly use to use it in our transmission without issues. From what they tell me it was causing the material on the carbon blocker rings to either flake off or complete disengage from the blocker ring. They did not say if it was the synchromax or atf but I am assuming synchromax since that is the fluid I called them about. I use to recommend the royal purple to everyone but once they started sharing there stories we decided we would recommend either Mobil 1 atf, gm synchromesh or mopar synchromesh. Sorry I could be more help.

Thanks,
Amber
