Default cracks in bellhousing

My car is at the dealer for some warranty work and I have some cracks in the bellhousing. The dealer says there in the thinest part and there not gonna effect the structure. Are they right? If not could a shop weld the cracks without removing the trans?

Any cracks affect structure. What kind of idiot dealer did you go to? No you cannot weld up the cracks. Are you sure they are cracks and not just casting marks? If it is in fact cracked, get a replacement. It would also be good to know how it got cracked.

There cracks from when I busted off the slave cylinder and the tow truck driver rolled the car out and I could here it banging around.

I would not mess with a cracked bell. I'd get a new one. Welding it would create more problems with distortion.
