Default Borg Warner T56 questions

Okies..

Just bought myself a T56 gearbox.. yet when it arrived it has Borg Warner embossed on it.

What i want to know is.. Is the Borg Warner T56 as strong as the Tremec? Are they virtually identical?

Can anyone tell me any more information on the gearbox i've written down all the info off it i could see.

on teh casing itself
BW
13-86-066-904

on a tag on the casing
92055432 J2392
1386 022 E 01062

any information would be cool as i outlayed AU$2800 for the gearbox and last thing i want is to find out its an old T5 or some ****.

It's definitely a T56.

ratios are
2.66
1.78
1.3
1.00
0.74
0.5
2.9 reverse

tq rating is 350lbs-ft / 474 Newton-metres (curious; all the other 2.66/.50 boxes are 450lb-ft it seems )
The gross vehicle weight rating is 3400lbs/1542kg

It weighs 138lbs/62.4kg

There is no meaningful strength difference between a 97 Z28 and 99 Z28 trans., though I believe the 97 was produced by B/W and the 99 by Tremec. However, I don't know what application your trans. is; did you buy it in your country or ship it over?
