Default Bad Clutch?

HELLO new to this site,
I got a 2001 SS with 77000 miles runs great. However I noticed that when I get on it hard I get this bad smell. Could it be my clutch, drive belts. Lets say I am at 1500 rpm's in first gear and I floor it till I reach 5000 Rpm (without popping the clutch) I get this funny odor. I dont know wether I should worry about this or not any opinions or help will be nice.

My car has this same nasty smell. I thought it was the Cat's but it's not. I'm curious as to what this is also.

Quick clutch test:

Put car in 5th gear and try to take off like normal. If the car dies, the clutch is not likely slipping or is just starting to.

If the RPMs jump up but the car does not move the clutch is slipping horribly.

Can see symptoms in the middle of these to but most of the time its one or the other.

Good luck!

Okay I will try that in fifth gear. But by the way this is going I will probrably need a clutch a few thousand miles down the road. What clutch system do you guys recommend. Centerfore, RAM, stock. Any advice would be nice.

My clutch is pretty shot so your probably right. I just purchased an LS7 kit last week. I have yet to put it in yet though. I have heard good things about it and was able to pick the kit up new for $350 I will be putting it in very soon.

I performed the quick clucth test I started out in 5th gear like I would take off normally and the car simply died. Did not stumble or hesitate it just died. Came to a dead stop. Quick question to my understanding the 2001 through 2002 SS and WS6 came with a LS6 intake manifold. Am I right? If so do I have an LS2 intake Mani I have a 01 SS with a full SLP package, wheels, suspension and other things.
