Default Synthic in the driveline...

I've been running Mobil 1 in the motor since 3000 miles and am considering changing the rear end and gear box over to synthetic as well; just curious if anyone has noticed differences in either mileage or performance after their change over in the rear or gear box. And if so, what brand did you switch to, Mobil, Royal Purple or others.

If already discussed, please direct me to the thread.

Thanks.

I'm currently running Mobil 1 synthetic in my transmission. noticed no real difference in that over amsoil over regular transmission fluid. I'd probably just go with mobil 1 gain in future though as it seems to flow better in cold than the regular fluid so I can imagine it's easier on the transmission when cold too.

That is awesome because I was on the fence between Synchromesh and Mobil 1. Has anyone ever used Royal Purple in their tranny or do they make something suitable?

SixSpeedsInc recommends against using Royal Purple. I'd also recommend against Redline oil as well since they are not API approved. Also heard rumors their blends are a bit on the hygroscopic side in which they absorb water and for a T-56 without carbon fibre blocker rings and still has the stock paper ones, it's pretty much a lethal injection for them to begin to fail.

I'm using Amsoil Synchromesh fluid and it has reduced the notchy shifting.
