Rebuilt transmission, Grinding goin into 5th??
This is on a c5 vette... Im having a gear gring going into 5th only on a fully rebuilt transmission w/ billet keys, carbon syncros, steel 3/4 fork, bronze slider pads.
Car has a new ram clutch and fly wheel, Ive bleed the clutch out as much as I can..
what would cause a 5th gear grind, Im not so sure of its the clutch not fully disengageing because no other gears are grinding..

I've had the exact same problem and have another thread on here that has yet to get any replys. My trans is new with carbon syncros, steel forks etc. New LS7 clutch and have bleed it over and over. The first week or so driving on it fifth gear would grind exactly as you are describing. After about a week it stopped and fourth gear started to do the same thing instead. Drove it a little more and now third gear started and fourth isn't as bad as it was so it seems to be working its way down the gears. A guy at a local F-body shop told me its normal for new carbon syncros and they are just breaking in and it will stop but after a month of it now I find it hard to believe that it is normal.

I had the same problem when power shifting on my '00 Z28. I was told it was the slave cylinder. So, I ordered the updated slave and haven't had the problem since. Don't know if that's your issue, but it similar enough that I thought I'd share.
