Cant go into 5th.

Cant go into 5th. 2002 M6 Z28
Just had 3.73s installed and the car locks me out of 5th when tring to downshift. Didnt do this before I had the gears installed. The entire gear range feels diffrent but the fact that the 3.42 before were bad explains that. The stick goes into and out of five fine when going from 4 to 5 to 6. Then when im in 6th and try to downshift it wont go and makes like a woosh sound. I have to slow down before I can shift into 5th again.
The car has 49k

Ok the problem just got worse. Now the car will not stay in 5th at all. when i put it and release the clutch it pops out.
Anybody please help. Am I in for a new trans?
It was shifting ok before I had the gears installed. All the other gears shift better than before but now 5th is all messed up. It sometimes used to pop out of six as if i didnt have it all the way engaged but that rarely happed.
