Default head gaskets

are 98 ls1 head gaskets the same as 02 ls1 head gaskets?? asking becuase 02 gaskets are more expensive ...would it be just type of material is made from?

the heads themselves for 98-02 changed (853 vs. 241) i think the castings are, so maybe they need diff head gaskets, not possitive but no one else said anything so i figured it would help.

i think that the 98 and 99 valve covers are perimeter... and the the 00-02 valve covers are center... someone told me that 98 ls1 heads were casted differently... so i would try the price of a 99 instead.

store had 98-01 then 02 for like 50 each... 01s had 241s also...they were just made from a different material..

you can get oem graphite victor reinz head gaskets for 11$ each. you can get the whole top end rebuild gasket set for 30-40$


unless you want to run a thin cometic mls gasket your wasting money on over priced others

i would just but the cheapest one that fits and copper spray it..

The 98's are model specific. Just go to your local Chevy dealer and get the correct gasket for your 98. Also, get new head bolts.
