Default Check gauges constantly comming on

Well this issue has been happening even before my stall converter. My light for check gauges comes on 1-2 times every time i drive it. Most of the time it is when I am out high rpms on the throttle, but other times it is just when i am cruising around town. I check all my gauges, the temp is always fine(have 160 thermostat) the oil pressure is always above 40, the fuel is always fine, and the one thing i question is the battery. My battery gauge is constantly shifting in both directions, however it never goes to far down in the voltage and stays in a good range. Anybody have an idea what this can be and if it is something to worry about

I'd look into that movement with the voltage gauge. Only time it should move around is if electrical load is changing (fans comming on and off, turning on the lights, etc.). If it's just bouncing around while you're driving, something is not right.

What does the voltage gauge show when the "check gauges" light comes on?

Thinking possible alternator or connections also. Check to see if P1637 is stored in the PCM, it won't illuminate the SES light.

I will check for that next time I get a chance. Last time I had the car at the shop it was mentioned something about the altenator. The car starts perfect everytime, and I always drive with radio on. If it is the altenator, why does it come on more often during heavy throttle.
