gear help
I got a 98 ta stock with bolt on built tranny with 2000 stall ..Do you guys think 410 gears is a good idea ..I have a extra rest end here and just took a look at it and seen it had 410 s ...

I would not put 4.10s in an auto trans street car. I would ditch that weak 2000 stall, and bump the stall speed to 3500 at least (this is about ideal for a stock LS1). I'd leave the stock gears alone. It's shocking how good these cars can 60-foot with stock gears and the right stall speed (plus tires of course).

That's on the list so far I want a yank 3600 ..I brought a rollor ta and it had edelbrock coil over kit with full suspension and this rear end all for 400.00 .. Any of yous running 410 s in a stock a4 ..

No Particular order.
If the rear is good, toss it in too. On a N/A Setup, a bump in converter and gearing is a great thing. IF you needed to do one or the other. Make sure the transmission is in good shape as when you blow it to pieces 9 times out of 10 you contaminate the converter and you will need to replace it again.

Thats not always true. I had to change to 28" tires because I was hitting OD. 100 feet before the 1/4 mile mark. I trap 119-120mph. Use this calulator and you can figure out your speed with differnt gear ratios. Make sure you tell it your an auto tranny 4L60E. http://www.pszweb.com/car/gears.htm
