Default Just put headers on extremly high oil pressure?

Hi,
I just finished installing a set of pacesetter headers and finished hooking everything up. However when I went to start the car, I noticed the oil pressure went to past 80 mark when I turned the key to the position before start. Starting the car didn't change this either. I let it run for about 5 seconds and it was still at above 80. Did I break a sensor? Also I didn't put the oil dipstick back in all the way (there's about 1/2" left") because it wasn't budging. Could this be causing it? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Edit: could the sensor just be shorting out since even when the engine isnt on it jumps to 80?

The headers and oil pressure problem are not related, the dipstick tube being out will not cause it either. If you just put headers on you were nowhere near the oil pressure sending unit. IT is under the rear of the manifold, It sounds like you have a bad sensor,,

Oh ok cool. Will having a bad sensor effect anything? In other words is it something I should look into replacing or can I just leave it as it?

I dont know for sure, I dont believe the PCM uses the signal for any reference for engine control, I dont think the check gauges light will come on unless the reading is really low. However, I would not leave it in that condition, You will be bypassing the only safety you have, and will not accurately be able to monitor your oil pressure. You can get a new sending unit at az for like 40 bucks.

Shouldn't affect anything when its reading that high. I would say you have a broke sender or bad. Maybe from jacking the engine from install.
