L33 5.3L re-ring kit question
Recently I acquired a L33 takeout, that was taken out from alleged lifter noise. Upon disassembly, I found there was really NOTHING wrong with it other than possible carbon knock (there was a pretty hefty ring of carbon on the piston tops up against the headgaskets - maybe the culprit?)
Regardless, I'm going to re-ring and bearing it anyways. Which brings me to my next questin - I don't know the VIN for this particular engine and all of the engine kits seem to revolve around the VIN for the correct kit.
Is there any other way to successfully ID this thing, and what's the differences between the various kits - Is it the gaskets? (as far as I know the 5.3's are all the same internally?)
