Default Steering column help!

Right now my car has the radio controls. If I get a column that doesn't have them will the SIR coil still plug up underneath? I'm running a aftermarket radio so the controls doesn't matter. The problem with the column in it is the key switch won't turn off the engine alot of the time. You have to pull the rod by hand and I can't find anything wrong inside of it. Other than things seem to move a little. The column has alot of play like if you pull on the wheel but I can't find a way to tighten it up. Do you think the column is just worn out?

I know this isn't what you was looking for, but you can get adapters to make the steering wheel buttons work with an aftermarket radio. Also, the wheel play, seems like a common thing on f-body's. I actually haven't seen one that doesn't have the play that you're talking about.

The tilt mechanism most likely needs to be tightened. 4 bolts but its way down in the middle of the column. There are several writeups on how to do it
