Question Air Lid, Ideas HELP !

Hello,
recently made a huge order although it turns out that i need a couple more help.
so i'm thinking to work on the induction, trying to get a LS2 MAF Sensor with its pigtail.
now that's not the major concern (for me).
my major concern is the air lid, i have the stock ws6 air lid and ws6 hood
now what i'm trying to accomplish is open up the ws6 hood where it won't have the box that swings the air (air shots directly in).
with that done i'm also trying to make my intake to suck both ways up & down
my filter is K&N although i want to design a custom box to be open upwards and down. also defiantly going to change the TB to Air lid stock connection.
any better ideas, can someone state something better?
is going for a larger filter a better idea?
would i rather be cutting my original ws6 stock air lid (open it from above)?
could fiber glass do a good job as a custom box considering heat factors etc?.
too many questions don't know what to do.
------------------
FYI
------------------
no i don't want a slp lid or any of that type cause they are closed above i want it open both up&down.
-------------------
LS1 Engine,STOCK
only upgrades that are going to happen are:
1 7/8 Texas Speed Headers
Monster Stage 3 Clutch
-------------------
Thanks

I don't see why you couldn't use fiberglass to fabricate a custom air lid. Hell, if fiberglass can be used to make a hood, why wouldn't it work for an air box.

considering heat factors, i don't want it to save so much heat, that would totally screw my induction.

and yea hoods can be made of only fiber glass but the hood ain't going to suck the air into the engine.

p.s. what's the size for the LS2 MAF (Outer Ring) is it the same as the LS1 MAF?

How about something like this?

http://suncoastcreations.com/a-p-f-3...r-box-kit.html

Here you can get a good look at it installed.

http://suncoastcreations.com/pontiac...8003-prod.html

This system wouldn't allow air from the bottom, but would facilitate the RAM AIR effect of the factory WS6 Hood.

If you're set on getting air from both below and threw the Hood, you will probably need a system with an open element filter. You may want to look at a K&N or Volant Cold Air Systems. Here they are respectively...

You would need to modify the plastic piece that the filter rests on in order for it to breath from below as well as above on either of these kits, but that cold easily be accomplished by cutting a hole in it.

me likey your posty,
i believe although unsure but that is the exact air lid my brother has on his camaro the one from sun-coast, and more likely it is the one to be in mind the others are just too small for considering how much air can actually go through the hood, hell our ls1's could be used as vacuum's i could literally hear a air sniff when my brother taps on the gas pedal.

I've looked at the ones from ws6store which are mostly the same in all other web's too small filter for a ls1(just my opinion).

i don't think any pieces will exist in the first place, if you know what i mean hahaha.

about the ws6 hood, is it possible to cut the metal swing behind the scope?
considering to get a raptor hood (full fibre) after a while(long time probably a year), so is it worth it and possible to cut it off?

Have you thought about one of the volant intake setups? Check out hawksthirdgenparts.com and go to the air induction section. The sites self explanitory you can find damn near anything for an fbody on there.

It's best to get air from one or the other and seal the air box. Below being the best. If you get from both the air will bleed out the path of least resistance and you will not get as good of result as a single sealed path.

Good read.
