'98 Z

'98 Z
I'm looking at a '98 Z, and when I took it for a test drive it seem to have a tap while going down the highway. I asked the "dealer" (car lot at a gas station) if he provided a 30 day warranty of any type, he said "No, because this heres a high performance automobile..." If I buy this car (78,000 miles) do I have any protection under the law if the engine goes kaputs after 10 days of ownership?

I don't know about the law part, but I'd run away from that car and that dealer. If he's not willing to give you a 30 day warranty and it's making noises then I wouldn't buy it. Or maybe you could get it inspected by a trustworthy tech or something.

Def. take that car to a mechanic. most mechanics would be willing to quickly glance and give an opinion. but the guy seems kinda shady and looks forward to gaffolding your money. search around a bit more before you make a decision. it will pay off.

Try to find a newer one than 1998.
Urrrrr, wait a minute... I own a 1998.
See if you can find an 01 or 02. LS6 intake, LS6 clutch. Possibility of an extended factory warrenty. Possibility of an LS6 block (not that it means much). Radio controls on steering wheel
