Default Need help on a T/A

I joined this site awhile ago to learn about F-bodies and the wealth of information that I received is huge. I was recently reading my first posting--good god I was so ignorant. I've always wanted either a 2001 WS6 or T/A. Last week, I relocated down to Charlotte, N.C., from Brooklyn, N.Y. Currently I drive a 2001 Mustang GT. Here are my issues:

Currently, after my drive down here, I now have 28,500 miles on my Mustang. In New York, I drove the car only on weekends; therefore, in the year that I had the car, I put a little bit more than 2000 miles on it. In 2 days down here, I put almost 1,000 miles on it (700 miles was for the drive down here). Currently, I owe around $11K on the Mustang.

I've been looking at a 2001 T/A from carmax. They're selling it for $19,600. Although I'm interested in the car, I have several concerns. First, is the mileage. I'm really shocked at how many miles we drive down here in the South. A friend of mine said that the annual average miles is 15,000. I'm concerned about buying a 2001 car that already has 27,000 miles on it. Then, from a financial point of view, is it worth it? I really like the F-Body but with the trade-in, I'm going to be paying a lot of money for it.

Here's another issue, how do they react with heavy miles on them? What's the life expetency for a daily driver? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but back in N.Y., I never put miles on my car; therefore, I'm really not sure. By the time that I pay the car off, geez how many miles will I have on it and will I ever be able to sell it again--I don't know.

Charlotte is like F-body heaven. Everybody has either a T/A or a Camaro. I've never seen so many in my entire life.

Is it worth trading in or should I keep my Stang. A few people that I know down here are like, "That's a great looking Mustang keep it." But, they're not really sport car people. They've never been bit by the bug. Please, any and all advice is helpful.

I've got 105,000 miles on my car, and I recently put down 340 at the wheels with all bolt ons and a ls1 intake....just a FYI...I think LS1's are alot like diesels...as long as they haven't been abused, They'll run FOREVER....I think for a regular TA 19,600 is a little high. Thats what you should be paying for a Ram air os a SS....keep your eyes open, and you'll hook a sweet F-body

Tim, according to Kelley's Blue Book, a 2001 WS6 in Charlotte (28217) is appraised at $22,600, where as a 2001 T/A is appraised at $19,600.
