looks like your wire that goes into a 4-pin switch which is plugged in close.
i believe its called your Voltage sense wire, and i think you have that run from the positive output to the 4-pin connector switch.

That is the exciter wire. The alternator won't charge properly without that connected to the top terminal (4-pin connector mentioned above). People often break this wire while removing the alternator if they aren't previously aware that it's there. You will need to fix this before getting proper charging out of the alternator.

it goes to the 4 pin plug on the alternator. it's not a voltage sense wire, it's the wire connecting the alternator to the PCM. the pcm sends a signal telling the alternator to charge or not to charge. alternator won't charge without it.
if you pulled the wire out of the 4 pin plug, you can get a new plug for less than $20 and then connect your broken wire to the wire coming out of the new plug. they are easy to get mail order, not sure if they are available at local parts stores.

I bought a new plug from autozone it had 4 wires coming out of it so I cut off the ones I didn't need connected the one I did need worked like a charm I'll get the part number for ya later
