Default ASR light on a non-ASR car???

I just installed an 98 LS1/T-56 and a Non-TCS rear in my Bird, as well as the new gauges (150mph). Now that the car is running I get an ASR light on the dash. Neither one of the cars had/have ASR. Why the light?

Usually when ASR is on, the light is off, and when you turn ASR off the light comes on. So if you do not have ASR on then the light will be on. I would just pull the bulb out of the cluster since you don't have ASR.

That's what I'm going to do, but is there a reason why it's there in the first place, and ON for that matter?
