Default my gears!?!?

ok when i bought my car, the previous owner told me he had gears installed and he "said" if i remmeber correctly he put in 3.42s. but im not so sure if that is correct. all i can base this on is my mph to rpm #s

when im at 70mph i am at 2300-2400 rpms in my 4th gear, overdrive

does anyone know what i have i was thinking 3.73s not 3.42s

?!

Sounds Like 3:42's I have 3:73 in A4. I run about 2500 to 2600 at 70mph.

Default Could be any size.

Mine are GM 3.73 gears. Yesterday, I was sitting at 2400 rpms doing 70 mph. I originally had 3.23 gears, but, had my TA dyno tuned with my new 3.73 gears. So, the calibration still shows me running at the same rpm rate as I did when I had the 3.23 gears.

It also depends on whether or not the stall converter has been changed. That will affect the RPMs too.

Default ????

I disagree in this situation. Of course a stall converter affects RPM's. It seems pretty clear he's talking about a steady, constant cruising speed of 70 mph in 4th, whereas, the converter would be locked. If he were to accelerate even the slightest bit, it would downshift at this low an rpm rate, so, I don't believe your reply could possibly be correct.

Anyone care to elaborate on this issue? I would like to know if anyone thinks I'm wrong in what I'm saying. On the flip, I also would like to here if anyone supports me on this.

Default Calibrated PCM
