Default What is a cutout?

Can someone explain what this is, and how it works?

The cut out is an opening that you can add to your exhaust. They can be manually opened or electrically opened. It's an easy way to bypass your muffler to free up some horsepower at the track by allowing the exhaust to exit quicker (and not having to wind through the muffler and tailpipes. When you're done having fun, you just close it back up and your car can be quiet(er) again.

cut out is a peice welded into your exhaust that has a flange on it that you can remove and it opens the exhaust completely...

it also makes the car a lot louder as well...


a cutout is one of the best bang for your buck mods that you can get for you car!

It lets your exhaust escape before it goes up and over your axle and into your muffler.

Just to add a little. People go with 1 or 2 cutouts. If you are only using 1, then it would be welded into the I-pipe. If you go with 2, then they are placed on both sides of the Y-pipe directly after the headers.
