Default Ac ?

I want to remove my ac in my 2001 SS,how do I go about it?Do I have to discharge the system?Thyanx in advance

whether you want to or not the system is going to discharge when you disconnect the lines

definatly, you could just remove the belt if it would make you feel better. but yet taking the lines off will vent all the freon out into our precious little atmosphere. where do you live anyway?? i would NEVER take my a/c off.

I took off everything in the ac system,Will I get service engine light eventually with the connections unplugged?When I started it it did not have serive engine light but was have a little trouble finding idle.I live in NY I never use the AC anyway.
