Default Blinker Problems

My blinkers have been acting funny for a while. When I would turn one on, the blinking would be an unsteady rythym. Yesterday, they completely quit working. I checked the fuse, and it wasn't blown. The only fuse blown is the one for my cigarette lighter/accy plug, and it's been out for a while. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be? Thanks!

Try replacing the relay.

Its either the flasher or the signal switch (which the stalk opperates) or a bulb or a socket (yeah that narrows it down.... ) The flashers are hidden behind the shin panel under the steering wheel. There are two flashers, one is for the turn signals and the other is for the hazards. You can replace it with another thermal flasher, or if you are interested in LED signals/lights, replace them with electronic flashers (Trident EL-12).

Two questions/notes:
* Does this problem also ocour with the hazards or only the turn signals? To further diagnoes the issue....turn on the hazards and walk around the vehicle. Look for any bulbs that are out (not flashing) or not flashing properly. It could be a bad bulb or connection. Usually the problem is a bad bulb or socket and not the flasher
* The Stereo & Electronics section is a better place for this question:

I checked the hazards, they work just fine. Is there any way to check and see if it's a bad flasher? Where might I get a thermal flasher, and how much might it cost?

More than likly it's the flasher. You can get them at any autoparts stores, heavy duty flashers are about $10.

Are any of the bulbs out or do any of them operate "oddly"? The hazards will still work fine if bulbs are out or operating "oddly" (flicker/dim).

You can try replacing the flasher and see if that cures it.

Ok, I bought an electric flasher, and have taken the two panels underneath the steering wheel out. Could anyone tell me more specifically where I can find the blinker flasher and what the OE flasher looks like?

Scratch that, I finally found it, replaced it, and the blinkers work great now. Thanks for the help!
