Default a ticking ???

sometimes when i start my car when its real cold out it will tick for like a couple mins down the road and then it will completly go away and it only really happens when its real cold outside?? my question is , is this gonna be a problem and is there something i could do now to prevent future damage. i bought this car a few months ago and it was from an older guy who drove it rarley and there was no mods what so ever so i dont think it was beaten on i dunno i just wanna make sure this isnt something serious

piston slap? try pistonslap.com (i think thats the site) and they have a sound clip, see if it sounds like what you hear. it may be the air pump, when its cold outside i could hear my air pump for a min after i started it. i dont know if it still does it cause i cant hear it cause of my mods

There's also a TSB for oil pump O-rings tearing & causing oil aeration & result lifter noise that can come & go.

Sounds like piston slap - unless it's bad, it's not that loud. It's noticeably different from a top-end sound like a sticky lifter, which is more audible and has a higher pitch. I have mild piston slap when it's quite cold and it usually goes away in a minute or two.
