Default air lid question

i was wondering if i cut out a section of a stock air lid on a 1999 trans am will it hurt my car or help it

I think you'll run the risk of making the airflow worse by creating turbulent flow. Air lids are designed by people who understand fluid dynamics. Unless you've got a flow-bench to experiment with, I wouldn't try it!

I would also spend about $100 on a aftermarket!!
