SEARCH. There are a lot of threads and polls regarding gas mileage. You can be lazy and simply look at this one thread for info or you can do a small amount of legwork through search and get ten times the information.

Welp, this past weekend I averaged 23mpg... from home, up the Dragon on US 129, up the Foothills Pkwy into Townsend TN, through Wears Valley and Pigeon Forge on into Gatlinburg, and from there to Sevierville to Knoxville to Cleveland(averaging 100 on I-75).
Oh, and we clipped 130,000 miles not too long ago. You won't regret getting an LS1, dude. I've heard people who've owned both say the LS1 get better mileage than the V6 F-body.

I average about 20... On the highway i can squeeze out damn near 30mpg and depending on how heavy my foot is i've gotten as low as 8mpg.
The biggest factors are gearing, transmission, and self control < thats the biggest one!
BTW its nearly impossible to daily drive an LS1 without going WOT at least once a day

man its hard for me not to go WOT atleast 5 times when i have my car out. but i cant help it when i see just miles of open road i dont know what to do but go faster 
)

wow...never expected to hear numbers like that out of it. ive always looked into doin the swap for my 305. but never seriously. now i am. thanks for all the help guys. anyone want to sell me theirs now?!?!?!
