Default buying an f-body...need help

Well I'm not new here but I need some input. I'm wanting to trade the truck in on an ls1 f-body in the next month or so. Even with all the mods to my truck,I still want an f-body. prefferably a T/A. When and if I find an f-body at a dealer I plan to strip the truck down back to stock and sell all the performance stuff so I'll have mod money for it. Besides the dealers from what I've been told don't give you anything for mods done to trade in vehicles. When I go and look at them in the next few weeks, is there anything I need to look for that may be wrong with them? Is there any general trouble spots on the f-bodys that I need to check out before I hand over the cash? I've checked autotrader but I'd still like some more options. Anyone know where a good place in the DFW area to get a great deal on a nice f-body or any other place to look? I'm hoping to find one that is bone stock, so I can start fresh. any ideas? Thanks

If you can find one get your self a 01/02, so you will have the ls6 intake and better flowing EX manifolds from the start. I beleve the 01/02 also has a bigger cam the the 98-00 (I think). If your looking for a M6 listen for any rear end noise, stiff or racking in the shifter. Also finding one bone stock is the way to go. I pased on a few Z's untill I found the one I have now. Good luck with your serch.

I second the bone stock thing. I bought a modded F-body and have had nothing but problems with it..

'98-'00 has the bigger cam. The '01/'02 cam has more low rpm grunt though.

From the FAQ thread at the top:
stock 98-00 cam:
duration@.050 198.86 intake 209.25 exhaust
lift .498 intake .497 exhaust
LSA 119.45

stock 01-02 cam:
duration@.050 196.37 intake 208.72 exhaust
lift .464 intake .479 exhaust
LSA 115.92
