Default LS1 question.

I found a 98 Z28 6 speed. The guy wants 4500 for it. heres some little probs with it: One is the windsheild is all scratched up (from not changing the damn windsheild wipers!) , the dash is cracked, the passenger window motor is weak, and rolls up very slowly. Theres a small rip in the seat and carpet as well. The A/C is out, he claims when he replaced the compressor clutch, he drained the fluids and never recharged it. Also, when he went from reverse to 1st gear there was a little clank noise i heard... i asked him waht it was and he said nothing. Does this sound like the car is worth 4500 to any of you? If the A/C compressor is bad then thats about a grand in parts/labor. Plus the windshield and window motor.. The paint is in great conidition... That's about all. Oh yea the mileage is 124k. I would like any input from anyone if this is a good deal or not? Thanks,

Jeremy

I scorred my near mint Z28 for 6000....

So with a couple things wrong, I can see 4500 being a fair price for that particular car. I would think the only thing worth value, however, is the engine, tranny combo.

if you are planning to make a racecar out of it, i say go for it. but if its gonna be your dd, make sure you have $ in the bank for when it breaks, or just spend a bit more for one in a little better shape.

I agree, my first car was $4500 and i ended up dropping an outrageous amount of money into it.

got my 99 t/a for $8000 in mint condition

Why would you want to buy a car with that many problems already? Who knows what else is wrong with it, sounds like a waste of cash to me. Just save up some more and buy a decent one that isn't a POS
