60ft times on street tires????
i took my car to the track again just to see if the mods i did so far did ANYTHING at all, and so i could see where im at b4 the cam and 3.73 gears....i improved and had awesome reaction times (.009 and .144) but i couldnt get my 60ft times down. am i doing somethin wrong?
i ran 13.5's that nite but my 60 ft times were 2.12 and 2.14
lowered tire pressure to 19psi
new best time-13.551
new best trap spd- 105.93

I race an LS1 car every week. It is a 1999 T/A with H/C/I TB, LT's 12 bolt, etc. The car goes 11.70's with a 100 shot. Believe me when I tell you, you probably will not see much better than 2.0 sixtys with a street tire. I dont care how wide it is or how much you heat it. They just dont hook. I also have a bone stock 2002 SS. I took it up and raced it with street tires. Did a 13.3 with a crap 60 time. I put my buddys slicks on, did a 1.8 sixty, and got 12.99 out of it. Yes everyone, it is possible to see 12.99's on a stock SS or T/A. My advice to you is to get some BF goodrich drag radials or ET Streets or whatever you can afford to get the 60 down. With the new gears and cam you will really be pissed when you cant hook, your 60's get worse, and you dont go any better than 13.0. However, be careful with the launches on the stock rear end. If it is a six speed, be real careful as these tend to kill stock 10 bolts quicker than the A4. Once in a while it will probably be OK depending on your HP level, regular track use with slicks will kill it quick.

Well my first time at the track (last week) I ran a 13.4 @106 with a 2.175 60'. I have Bridgestone Potenza RE750 street tires, B&B catback, and FPIK. I'm an M6 as well. Your 60' times could improve just like mine need to. But your ET and MPH are pretty good for the mods you have. Just like kevinb1998 said, you could get some DR's to get the 60' times down if your having traction issues.

When the Z was running I could easly pull 1.9 60s all day with Firestone Indy 500 tires. But then again I also have boxed lcas, relo brackets, sfcs, drag bags, and stock stall.

power and tires has alot to do with it... most stock cars will barely inch into the 1.9's and thats if the track is hooking and the tires are in good shape. personally i went 1.68 60' on a set of 245/50/16 kelly evo z's all around in my h/c camaro with a 4000 stall. ended up running 11.7@119 and on slicks i went 11.3 @119 with a 1.55 60'... same day and changed tires back to back.
imho i would get a decent set of street tires and see what happens when the track is hooking... or just buy a set of nittos.
