Value of a stock, 80-90k mile LS1.
I do not own a WS6, but will. So, please don't be discouraged by the fact that I don't own the car I am asking questions about. Now that that's out of the way, I want to know a ballpark estimate on what said engine (in title) is worth. I've checked eBay for reference, but ccame up with too many variations, between $1,500-$5,000 for stock/used engines. I would not be selling the transmission (M6), so exclude tranny value. The reason to sell, is because my idea is to do a motor swap, from the stock ls1, to a built 406 (also curious about how the M6 will mate with this engine, but that's another thread).
OR, would it just be better to mod the hell out of the ls1?
Thanks, I hope my first post turns out OK.

Also check the LS1 Tech classifieds. There are a lot of good parts available at reasonable prices.
In terms of whether to buy or build your "dream" engine, by all means build if you have the time and inclination.

Just don't forget to same some monies incase the 10 bolt rear woofs its cookies.
They're said to be one of the weekest links in the Fbodies.
More so with the manual tranys if you're doing hard launches.
Althought I'm sure someone else will contra-dicked me in saying that people are in the 10's mark with stock rear ends.
