Lightbulb Mods?

I have an 2000 A4 SS

What are great mods that arent expensive...

I am working on exhaust and intake..
Gears and stuff I want but which? And what tires would be good for the car... I can get different rims if I must.

Would you be installing yourself? There are some good mods that arent all that expensive (i.e. cam, stall, gears...), but they can be expensive to have installed.

Lid(any) and exhaust are good first mods. Any exhaust is better than stock, but if you have the cash get GMMG, it flows and sounds great. I have a flowmaster cat-back on my car, which also sounds nice, but is one of the more restrictive aftermarket systems. Gears might tend to wear out your rear-end prematurely, especially if you rag on it. If you have hopes of going 400+ RWHP, i'd do some suspension mods(SFC's, LCA's, PHR, shocks and springs) also, if you want better tires, go ahead and get some wider wheels, like 1 17X9.5 or 17X11 rear and get wider tires. If ou want any more advice from me, you can pm me. Everyone here had different opinions of what to do first, so get advice from differnt sources, then pick what you think is best. Enjoy the new car, and good luck modding!

I dont know about all that, the cam itself is easy to install, but its all the supporting mods that are more difficult and time consuming. Yeah sure, i could easily do a cam swap in an LS1 in a couple hours. Its doing the valvesprings, oil pump, etc., that eat up time.

the selling your ls1 and getting a cheap beater isnt very expensive. you may even end up with cash and a car.

lid, ls6 intake, and catback. a cam requires a tune or else the car will run either rich or lean. which requires more $$$.

If you want great inexpensive mods go with a lid, 160 thermostat, cut-out(you save allot of money by doing a cut-out intead of a catback), TB bypas, trango shift kit, SFC's, Pan Hard, and a torque arm

it wasn't that bad. but it wasnt "easy" either. there are a couple things that were a little tricky, like the oil pump pick-up tube bolt, and the #8 springs are a little difficult to get to. Like i said, it wasnt that hard at all, but for a beginner, it might be a little over their head. for now atleast.

installing a cam is easy, but removing all the **** to get to it and replacing lifters isnt easy cause yo have to remove the heads on our cars to get to them, etc. Need to know torque specs, etc.

I would recommend getting with a buddy to install a cam.

Lid, Intake, gears, Headers, catback, Nitrous are all easy and cheap mods.

I would need the car to pass CA smog or have the mods easy to remove and add the stock (whichever screw with smog) there arent many legal cams that i could put in... Headers is a couple hour job but can be replace with stock...

for someone by themselves, who has never done it before....a cam install would take a good amount of time, its not a easy "throw in" job....

just finish your bolt on's
