Default 98 Engine with other year PCM?

Is it possible ot use a different year PCM/Harness with the 98'? I'm reading that the 98' PCM is harder to tune and different from the 99+. I just bought a complete engine from a 98' Trans am and need to buy a harness and pcm anyways.

So what are my options?

The engine doesn't care what pcm/harness it has. More importantly what year/type of vehicle is this going in? Answer that question and I can give you options. See my sig for reference

Yup as long as you have the correct harness, you can use whichever year PCM you want.

No problem. And make sure you post some pics when that thing is done!
