if you own a '99-'02 f-body, the gauges are dummies. they don't work accurately. they show you when the engine is cold, when it's at proper temps and when it's overheating. when your motor is fully warmed up, it will be a HAIR BEFORE the middle 210* slash. however, it's important to note that the temperature sensor is on the exhaust manifold, so it's on one of the hottest parts of the motor. this means that while you may be getting a reading on your gauge that says it's at ~210* temps, the actual internals may be significantly cooler. your best bet is to wait 5-10 minutes after the gauge hits 1 millimeter or two before the 210* (middle) slash. this will insure that not only the engine is warmed up, but the transmission and the rest of the driveline is warmed up, too. remember, you can let the car idle until it's fully warmed up, but the tranny will still be ice cold. you want the whole car to be warmed up from the engine to the transmission to the fluid in the rear differential, and the only way to do so is to set the parts in motion.

GM is getting to be rediculous about this bullshit! If its gonna cost them money they wont do **** about it. Just like the roof panels. Everybodies cars are bubbling due to the glue and they claim its our fault for poor maintenance or over maintenance or leaving it outside......
