Default car alarm question

I have a 98 trans am that I bought without the keychain fob. I noticed that I have little red light labeled "Theft lock" on the lower left corner of my stereo and also a little red light on my dash. I take it this is a factory car alarm....right?.....is it a pretty good system? Also, I ordered the keychain "remote entry" fob and programming instructions off of ebay. Is this all I need to get the security system working? On the picture, I see a horn, lock/unlock and maybe a trunk open button................wtf....will this work?

Thanks guys...................I allways have bonehead questions...

Best way to check the quality of your alarm is to go set it off.

Yeah, just program the remote. Car should have RPO codes UA6 (theft deterrent system) and AU0 (remote entry lock control) on the drivers side door. Theft lock on the radio is not part of the alarm system, it's separate.

In most of the vehicles owners manuals it will tell you about it. It can also be customized to your preferences. (Also in the owners manual) I think they work very good.
