Has your water pump been replaced with the new style?

I dont honestly know. I took the car on trade. The previous owner had had it since 2004, and I dont really know the owners before then. Is there an easy way to tell the difference between old style and new style? The "ears" on the Hypertech stat will not fit in the water pump orifice.

You need to get a new style thermostat. Slp sells one for around $25. I had the same issue when I had my pump replaced under warranty and when I tried to install my hyperstat it didn't work.
