Default differant ls6's

Is there any difference in an ls6 that comes out of a zo6 or a ctsv? I am trying to do an ls1 to ls6 swap and want the easiest swap possible.

Any reasons for the swap. Seems like there are so many better things out there to do. Unless you already have the engine?

its just a deal that I cannot pass up. I can break even, even if I sell my motor for real cheap.

an easier swap would be ls6 heads and cam, way cheaper too. you could even do an aftermarket cam with the stock ls6 heads.

They are not the same.. The Caddy CTSV has the LS2 (Which is found in the 2005+ corvette) in it which is the same heads and cam as the LS6 but the LS6 has a 3.90 bore and the LS2 has a 4". Also The LS6 is a 346 cubic inch and the LS2 is a 366 cubic inch motor.. Basically the same just different bore and stroke..

Just get the heads and cam from a LS6 or a LS2 and you will have an LS6!! Just make sure the code on the heads are 243. This will let you know it's a LS6 head.

First year caddy got the LS6, after they came with the LS2 like was said. Also the vette accessory drive pulleys are different than the F-body ones that the CTS uses.

Also the CTS did not get the exact LS6 motor as the vette. They get the same motor, cam and heads, but the heads do not get the sodium filled valves like the vette. Instead they get regular ole valves.

If you use the vette LS6 you will need to change the pulleys over to the f-body ones if you want the accessories to line up correctly.

Didn't know they put they LS6 in the CTSV. Thanks for sharing the info.. Thunder Racing has one they are building for a customer right now that is the LS2 based engine stroked to a 406 and they slapped on a procharger. This thing is suppose to have like 1000RWHP when they finish it. Now thats one bad *** CTSV!!

Yeah, I agree with som it depends on the year. Though you'd be lucky to get the ls2.

humm ls6 having sodium filled valves?? as far as i know gm only put that in the LS7 right now, i dought the ls6 has them, then it could also be a differnet head casting # but i could be wrong and the only 3 casting # i know are LS1 97-98= 241,LS1 99+= 853,LS6= 243

Why are sodium valves so much better, lighter?
