Wink Got my 2002 6 speed T/A today!!

OK first off! I cant leave anything alone. What racing ring and pinion (for street racing) would you go with? How much extra horses can I get with new heads and 1.6 ratio rockers (or even 1.7's)? Which brand makes the best heads? which brand rockers would you go with?--Thanks Alan

4.10's and don't worry about the rockers.

Congrats!

You first need to search and read up on the car. No offense but you already don't know what it has, LS1's already have 1.7 rockers.
And putting gears in a stock POS 10-bolt rear is pissing in the wind.

Peace,
Craig.

Congrats on the new ride!

I ran 4.10s in my bolt-on car for a while with no issues. I took it to the track on Nittos several times. After the heads/cam, I did break the posi on a 1-2 shift, but the gears have held good. Motives BTW.

Don't mess with the rockers, stock rockers are probably the most commonly used in most heads/cam builds.

Ive seen some 10bolt's last a while and ive seen some turn into dust.
It's a dice game.. you just never know

My 10bolt went to peices once I introduced it to the bottle.

If youre dead set on keeping the 10bolt then I personally wouldnt go lower than 4:10's.

You can get 1.85 rockers from SLP but you will have to change the valvesprings. I have them on mine and changed the springs as well as pushrods. It's ALOT of money for not alot of performance so you would be better off going a dif route. I got a really good deal so I couldnt pass them up.

Do the free mods, def get a full exhaust & lid
Then start worrying about other things to spend money on.

no point in change rockers they are to exspenive for how little horse power you get i would 3.90 or 4.10 gears but be carefull with the rear end instead of rockers get somthing like exhaust, headers, or a cam with a tune
