Default how long does an m6 last?

Not sure if i should post this here or the transmission section. i am looking at buying a 1998 trans am that i spotted on autotrader.

it seems to be in good shape and has 95000 miles on it. the only thing im weary about is that it has a new transmission and spec 3+ clutch.

how long do the m6 transmissions last in these cars, or is this a sign that this car has probably been abused throughout its lifetime?

As far as I know the t56 is a pretty well built transmission. My 93 has about 120k on it and it still shifts fine in all the gears. I know first hand that the guy who had my car before me abused it. A new clutch after 95,000 doesn't seem bad at all for me, but a brand new transmission? Is it just rebuilt? A rebuild at that mileage doesn't sound bad....seems like preventative maintenance to me.

it is a rebuilt transmission. im just looking to buy a car that is going to be dependable. my current lt1 has gotten beaten to death by over 6 owners, including me and ive been having problems with it and want to avoid these type of problems on a $9-$10000 car.

Rebuilt tranny and new clutch sound good to me . But obviously, check all the usual things when you take a look at the car. A decent way to tell how well a car has been taken care of is if the engine bay is clean (usually). Just look for the weird ticks/leaks/whines and if it all checks out i say go for it.

M6 trans are VERY tough, that seems pretty early to have to rebuild. Maybe like zdc said, it was preventive maintenance.
