Default Improved Racing High-Temp Thermostats for LS Engines

By popular request, our oil cooler thermostats are now available in high-temp versions. These will maintain a minimum oil temperature of around 212°F +/- 5°F in most conditions. This originated with requests from race teams, including Corvette Racing (for the C7R), that run high-performance motors designed to operate at a specific temperature range. When you're running an oil that is at the optimal viscosity for your engine above 212°F (100°C), you don't want your oil temps dropping below that range. This can be an issue even on track in cold and/or rainy weather. In addition, many modern street cars are designed to run at high-temps are are more efficient at those higher temperatures.

Part numbers:

EGM-113, high-temp version of EGM-112, Low-profile LS engine oil thermostat

ENV-102, high-temp version of ENV-100, high-flow remote oil thermostat

So much for the internet hype of cooler engine = more power. I've always ran a stock thermostat because it's necessary to keep engine oil at 200 degrees or more to burn off condensation.

I purchased the 113 or may have be the 112 from you. Does the 102 flow more oil?
Great service BTW!

Thanks! Yes, the ENV-102 (the new part number for the updated model that replaced it is FSM-185) flows better than the EGM-112/113. However, the EGM-112/113 isn't really any more restrictive than a non-thermostatic oil cooler adapter, so you aren't really gaining anything by going with the remote thermostat. In other words you're good with what you have!

Thanks. I just want to make sure my engine doesn't have any restrictions. I am running a 440ci that revs to 7200rpms. I have a Melling high volume pump, remote cooler and filter.
So my EGM-112/113 should be good?

Thank you!
Christian

Yes, you should be fine with that setup. But check your oil pressures and make sure everything looks good, of course.
