Has anyone experienced this problem with running nitrous on their car?

Not a good situation! No my sons T/A is a A4 car and shifts fine until running nitrous when it sometimes hits the rev limiter before shifting into the next gear.

Yes sometimes mine would bang the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift when running a big shot. I think it's because the converter is slipping a bit more with the added torque. You could lower the shift point to compensate, or bump the rev limiter, depending on what else you've done to the engine to handle the revs...

Thanks both of you for the insight. John, his does it more frequently on the 2 - 3 shift as you have experienced. Your probably correct as the 200 rpm window from the msd cutting off the nitrous till when its supposed to shift isn't enough time. We'll have to play around a bit with the shift points, msd pills, rev limiter, a bit.

How many miles are on the trans? It could be a sign that his trans is on the way out.

Mine did this also. I raised my rev limiter about 400 rpm to compensate. I tried playing with the window switch, but it didn't help much. I did away with the window switch in the end. My tranny has 2000 miles on it so I doubt it is going out.

What trans are you running? Stock or a built aftermarket one?

nitrous makes A4 cars shift a couple hundred rpm's later...normal. Lower window switch in 200 rpm increments (or start about 600 lower and work up).

my A4 T/A did that for a while.. When i sprayed it it would always hit the limiter on the 2-3 shift. just a half quart low on tranny fluid though. once i filled it it shifted fine. i run it on street tires right now and it'll hit the rev limiter if it spins real bad. Good luck.

This is the person with the car posting. Im thinking its a combo of the shift points and the tranny about to nuke.

If it is the 2-3 shift. Most like the tranny is going out.
But if you have a window switch, set it a couple hundred below the shift point.

But it is normal for it to shift a bit late with more power.

End the issue with a late model Tahoe tranny pan, you sending all the fluid to the back of the pan. The tahoe pan is slanted forward..and has a drain plug if you order the right one. This assumes the 2-3 clutches are okay. This also assumes it only happens at WOT from a dead stop or very slow roll.

You don't have a part number for that Tahoe pan, do you?
If it's deeper, don't you need to extend the filter down too?

You can order it from Jay Fischer Pontiac (NJ?). He knows the part # and has fixed the 2-3 bounce many times with this mod. You do have to use the Tahoe filter too though.
