Default Advice: Getting ready to add a NX system should I get it retuned?

Hey all:

I have a 02 Camarro with all the bolt ons, lt headers with full exhaust, heads and cam with a 3,200 stall and all tuned by Jeff Creech just a few months ago. Car is running very strong and no problems.

I am getting ready to install a NX wet system with bottle heater and denso plugs either 2 or 3 steps colder then stock and will be running a 75 shot.

Jeff told me that my wot timing is at 25.5 and I would be fine and not to worry. Also my a/f ratio stays around 13.5 to 13.6 all the way across the graph.

Should I be fine or should I take it and get it retuned?

Thanks

Never change your NA tune for the juice. Nitrous is an independant system and you tune the nitrous for the nitrous, if that makes sense, lol. If you are concerned with too much timing, get a timing tuner and retard it a few degrees, but don't change your NA tune for something you rarely use.

I agree... Your nitrous tuneup shouldn't effect your N/A tune up. You'll want to tune the nitrous for optimum performance by changing jets. Just make sure you have correct bottle pressure before nitrous tuning.

but I think you need to lower the timing if you plan on spraying... my tune has 28 deg and Its going to be lowered before i spray. I think most NA tunes increase timing and if you plan on spraying every once in awhile you should change it to a more conservative setting

but my question is whats a good timing?

There is a thread going that covers the timing issue quite well. The a/f jet settin as per the manufactures rec is prob fine, however, logging would tell the real story.

I run 24.5* to 25.5* of timing no KR shown on auto tap logs on my 100 shot. I was running around 13.5 A/F as well. I was told that was too lean for Nitrous so we brought the A/F to 12.9 to 13.0 N/A and with a 100 shot NX wet it starts @ 12.4 then drops to 12.0 and is locked there through the entire dyno run. I have dyno’d 3 times twice early morning nice and cold once mid afternoon @ 90* just to make sure no KR. I use 1 gal of 100 octane to 3 gal 91; VP race gas chart said that should be about 93 octane.
